Sun Xudong holds a Ph.D. in Management and serves as an Associate Professor and Ph.D. supervisor in the Department of Business Administration, where he also holds the position of department head. His research and teaching focus on energy economics and industrial policy, enterprise digitalization and innovation management, information technology software development, technological and economic evaluation, strategic development of new energy industries, and the application of big data technology.
As the lead author, he has completed over 20 strategic scientific and technological consulting research reports in the fields of energy and mining. These reports have received endorsements from leaders at various levels and have been adopted by multiple ministries. Sun has led and participated in more than 10 longitudinal projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, national key research and development programs, major consulting research projects of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Beijing Emergency Materials Association, and university research funds (with a focus on social sciences). Additionally, he has contributed to over 20 consulting and management projects for organizations such as Huawei, State Grid Corporation of China, State Energy Group, China Coal Industry Association, China Coal Technology and Engineering Group, Huaibei Mining Group, Lu'an Group, and Shaanxi Shaanbei Coal Mining Co., Ltd. He has also led over 10 information technology research and development projects in coal mining enterprises such as Lingwu Renjiazhuang Coal Mine, Xunyi Zhongda Yanjiahe Coal Mine, Bin County Shuilian Cave Coal Mine, and Ninglu Coal Power Plant, resulting in the creation of 2 software copyrights.
Sun has published over 40 papers in both domestic and international journals, including Applied Energy, Journal of Cleaner Production, Resources, Conservation & Recycling, Chinese Journal of Engineering Science, Systems Engineering-Theory & Practice, Management Review, Chemical Industry and Engineering Progress, Coal Engineering, Fuzzy Systems and Mathematics, and China Mining (with 28 papers as the first author, over 10 papers indexed by SCI/EI, and over 10 core papers). Additionally, he has authored more than 10 academic monographs. Sun has received several awards, including the First Prize for Municipal Scientific Progress (1 time), the National Coal Industry Education and Teaching (Staff Training) Excellent Paper Award (1 time), the Second Prize for Excellent Teaching Achievement of the University (2 times), the Second Prize for Excellent Teaching Quality of the University (1 time), and the Outstanding Undergraduate Supervisor Award (1 time). He has supervised one outstanding undergraduate thesis in Beijing.
