1201 Management Science and Engineering
The discipline of Management Science and Engineering integrates systems science, management science, mathematics, economics, behavioral science, and engineering methodologies, combined with information technology, to address management issues in social, economic, and engineering fields. Our university’s Management Science and Engineering discipline was established in 1953, was granted the authority to confer doctoral degrees in the first batch in 1986, and was approved to set up a postdoctoral research station in 1998. In the third round of national discipline assessments by the Ministry of Education (2012), the overall level of the discipline ranked 19th nationwide; in the fourth round (2016), it was rated B+, placing it in the top 10% to 20% nationally. The discipline focuses on scientific research, talent cultivation, and social services in response to national strategies concerning energy, resources, environment, as well as regional and industry development. It has distinct strengths and significant achievements in areas such as energy system optimization and management, coordinated development of resources and the environment, and coal mine safety management.
